Attributed to Alexander Jackson Davis (1803-1892) New York, ca. 1845-1850, Possibly made by Alexander Roux, New York. With hexagonal marble top 29-1/2"h x 26-1/2"w x 42"d Similar examples can be found in the public collections of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the High Museum, Atlanta, Georgia, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Art Institute of Chicago. A very fine example of this form known as "The Belmead Center Table" sold for a record $233,500 at the New Orleans Auction Gallery in September 2000.
