IX, P6145, p. 2532 Note: Based on a 1802 patented design by Simon Willard, this richly ornamented clock features a thermometer inscribed by S. Kevan, New York. A similar example was sold at Sotheby's on January 18th, 2001, Sale 7590, Lot 571 (See Sotheby's catalogue). Early 19th C. New York City directories list a Samuel Kevan as a master slater and stoneworker at 60 Clarkson street (near Washington street). Kevan was a Scottish immigrant.
